Coldplay continue to perform new songs from their upcoming, as yet untitled new album.  Last night they performed the song “Charlie Brown” and it’s the best new tune I’ve heard yet.   Oh and I guess they’re pretty good at the whole soaring, arena-anthem performance style.  Check it out: continue reading...

Bright colors!  Stop-Motion!  Chris Martin acting endearingly goofy!  It’s an average video from the Coldplay boys, but interesting nonetheless.  I’m still only so-so on this song, but the last minute or so is really good.  Still no new info on the new album, but here’s the video: continue reading...

Coldplay has been hard at work on a new album with producer Brian Eno (presumably), but there is very little actually known about the music they are creating and when it will see a release date.  Band members have hinted at a summer release and have stated that the first single is called “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” and it will hit airwaves(interwebs) on June 3rd.    continue reading...

Coldplay have done the unthinkable and released a Christmas song… how dare they compete with other classic Christmas-themed pop songs!…    But seriously, most Christmas songs are garbage… this one is quite nice.  Well done Coldplay.  Get a head start on some holiday spirit and enjoy “Christmas Lights”, continue reading...

coldplay-parachutes.jpg

One thing that I enjoy doing is searching for concert footage of a band before they hit the mainstream.  It’s even more fun when the band in question eventually grows into one of the biggest bands in the world.   Back in 2000, Coldplay was nothing more than a mildly popular UK band with a popular single called “Yellow”.  Their debut album Parachutes was quite good and did hint at things to come, but I doubt anyone, let alone the band, could have predicted the level of fame they would acheive.  This performance at a 2000 festival in Germany features Chris Martin acting goofy (nothing changed there), the band looking stiff and a glaring lack of theatricality that now exists in their live performance.   My taste for Coldplay has gone up and down over the years, but this song “Trouble” reminds me of how good they were right off the bat and it remains my favorite song that Coldplay ever wrote.  Enjoy: continue reading...

Joe Satriani is pissed… he claims Coldplay’s song “Viva La Vida” blatantly rips off his own song titled “If I Could Fly”. From NME.com:

Satriani says that the band used “substantial original portions” of his song on the near title track of the group’s latest album ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’. continue reading...

The nice dudes in Coldplay have decided to give you the option to legally listen to the album before it hits stores. Good for them, bonus points for Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends actually being a great album and a notable improvement over the uneven X&Y.

Head over to MySpace for a listen. continue reading...
