2011 marked my first attendance of the North by Northeast Festival in Toronto and, wow, is it ever a gong show. It’s like a semi-organized, chaotic cloud of music and alcohol settles over the downtown core and pummels you with parties, BBQ’s and concerts until you can’t take it anymore… at least until you realise that the bars are serving alcohol until 4am and there’s 3 more bands that you can catch before your central nervous system begins to involuntarily shut down. continue reading...
In 2007 Jack and Meg hit the road for an extensive cross Canada tour that included every province and territory in the country. Thankfully they documented the entire thing with a film crew and will be releasing it as the documentary entitled The White Stripes Under The Great White Northern Lights. Along the way the band played a number of unannounced, intimate gigs at surprise locations which are sure to be highlights of what looks like an already great movie.
