With a new album called Circuital set to be released in under a week, I thought it appropriate to feature My Morning Jacket in this weeks Live Flashback. The song I chose is from 2008’s Evil Urges and is called “Librarian”. It’s a fantastic tune that features a much more quiet and subdued sound from the band than you’d usually expect… and if you don’t know much about MMJ you should have a more in depth listen. One of the more underrated and underappreciated bands around… Enjoy: continue reading...
Believe me, you almost won’t recognise this song. I didn’t have to time post an Mp3 of the week today, but this should hopefully be enough until I have some more time early next week. continue reading...
If possible I would blog about Gorillaz news every single day… but alas sometimes there just isn’t any new info on the band. Not today! Damon Albarn and a few of his fellow Gorillaz did a special acoustic performance for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge series, and threw in a tasty cover of fellow UK band The XX’s semi-hit “Crystalized”. They somehow manage to make the chilled out song even more chilled out, but no less awesome. Enjoy the performance below and check out the other songs they performed at Stereogum, continue reading...
Completely pretense-free, his debut delivers a focused collection of low-key acoustic pop with a fragile saltwater twang” (Stephen Bove, Asbury Park Press, Oct. 2008). That’s the kind of buzz singer/songwriter Quincy Mumford is generating up and down the Jersey Shore — and beyond — with his novel take on today’s genre of feel-good music. continue reading...
Esmée Denters stopped by Radio 538, the #1 radio station in Holland, for an acoustic performance of her single “Outta Here.” With almost no sleep following her show with Enrique Iglesias the night before, the Dutch pop songstress still rocked the set and showed off her silky, soulful vocals on the Justin Timberlake and Polow Da Don produced track. Check it out: continue reading...
I’m all for musical experimentation and collaboration, but Chris Cornell paired up with Timbaland never seemed like a good idea. This acoustic rendition of the single “Scream” only reaffirms that. This is just Chris with an acoustic guitar accompanying his voice. No programmed beats, no digital effects. Just the music. And what a difference that makes! continue reading...
If you’re a fan of Lady Gaga’s exclusive EP ‘The CherryTree Sessions’, then you’ll love her latest acoustic offering! This time, she’s taken on Coldplay’s recent hit, “Viva La Vida”, and even added some new lyrics of her own! Check it out: continue reading...
