Six years go by and The Strokes finally explode back onto the scene.  “Under Cover Of Darkness” is the perfect song to welcome the band back with multiple hooks and enough guitar parts to keep you interested for hours.   The music for the new album Angles was written without vocals and Julian Casablancas added them after the fact.  It definitely makes sense when you listen to this song as the instrumentation is incredibly busy, but the vocals work.  Hopefully it works for the rest of the album as well.  Can’t wait for this one… continue reading...

The Strokes are primed to make their long awaited comeback and to start things off they are going to offer the first single “Under Cover Of Darkness” as a free download starting tomorrow February 9th.   The new album, and first in 6 years, is titled Angles and officially hits the street on March 21st.   The band has described the new music as a return to “classic” sounding Strokes, which is interesting considering they’ve only released 3 albums…  but they’ve leaked a brief snippet of “Under Cover Of Darkness” and the result is a tantalizing blast of music that can only be described as Strokes-y.  Very excited.   Check out the preview: continue reading...

The Strokes will release their 4th album Angles on March 22nd.   5 years after their last album, First Impressions Of Earth, it’s about effing time.  Apparently the first single will be “Undercover of Darkness” and expect the first sounds to leak to the web pretty soon. They’re also set to co-headline day 3 of Coachella and additional tour dates can’t be far behind.   Here’s an old classic to get you excited: continue reading...

atomic tom Apple, are you watching?

This is quite obviously a stunt to generate some interest in the band, but it’s pretty damn cool nonetheless.  Atomic Tom, a Brooklyn NY based band, play one of their songs called “Take Me Out” on an NYC subway car using nothing but their iPhones… yes, it sounds dumb, but it’s actually quite a good performance!  It should be interesting to see how far this video takes them…  Enjoy: continue reading...

After a 3 year break since the very average Our Love To Admire was released Interpol are set to return with a new album which is unnamed as of yet.  The whet fans’ appetites they’ve released a new song called “Lights” to the web which is a free download.  My first reaction is that it definitely sounds like Interpol… but that’s not much of a stretch.  It does sound more interesting than anything I heard off OLTA though.  Download it from the widget below: continue reading...
