1. When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music? Was there an epiphany or has music always a part of your life?
Emii: Music has always been a part of my life; I’ve been drawn to it since a very young age.
2. Tell us about your first live performance. What goes through your head right before you walk on stage?
Emii: My first live performance that I can personally recall consists of my five year-old self climbing unexpectedly onto a stage to randomly sing in front of hundreds of strangers. I knew then, as I know now, that the stage is my home.
3. Tell us about your latest recording. Where did your inspiration come from? What do you find to be the best environment to create music?
Emii: “Magic” was a sensual experience, an energy-filled recollection of intense personal events. The best environment for creating music is born purely of the inspiration to create.
4. Is there a particular song that you hold dear? Why?
Emii: “My Zombie Boyfriend”, as lighthearted as it is, has important moments of my past woven into its lyrics and music; The inspiration for this song came at a very pivotal time in my life.
5. You recently worked with Adrian Gurvitz, tell us about that experience!
Emii: He is the most intensely creative person I know, and he gives every ounce of his soul to music. There is no one like him, and it was an honor to rock out with him on this album.
6. What one word best describes Emii?
Emii: I can’t limit myself with one word. Next question.
7. If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing?
Emii: Something dangerous.
8. What are the Top 5 albums you currently can’t get enough of?
Emii:
1. The Hope for Haiti Album (various artists)
2. R.O.O.T.S, Flo Rida
3. The Resistance, Muse
4. The E.N.D., the Black Eyed Peas
5. The Sun and The Moon, by The Bravery
9. What would be your dream collaboration and why?
Emii: I’m working on making that dream collaboration a reality. It wouldn’t be as fun if I told you what it was.
10. So, what is next for Emii?
Emii: Sharing my music with the world; My first single “Magic” will be released on April 6th. Much more to come…

Rumors are flying on the internet that Radiohead just celebrated the completion of an 8th album with a wrap party in Hollywood. There was definitely confirmation that the band was recording music, but no time line was known. Based on the unexpected 1 week advance notice of In Rainbows I suppose that anythings possible with this band. Check out the video below for 1 of a million reasons that you should be excited about this and read more on the rumors from Spinner.com:
According to Cook, the band and long-term producer Nigel Godrich held a wrap party on Jan. 30 in a house that had been specially converted into a studio.
Cook wrote: “Bryan [Cook, engineer] helped transform a house in the Hollywood Hills into a recording studio and spent the last three weeks there recording Radiohead with Nigel Godrich.
“I was giddy seeing Beck, Selma Hayek and Danger Mouse chatting around the same pool where Dean Martin and the Rat Pack used to hang out.
“Thom Yorke periodically toyed with the iPhone that controlled the speakers. Usually he skipped forward to a Rolling Stones song. The band wanted to record in L.A. to get away from the dismal English winter. Nigel said they were probably lolling about too much in the sunshine when they first arrived.
“When it started pouring down, they realized someone up there was telling them to get on with it. If their last album was ‘In Rainbows,’ I guess they could call this one ‘In Rainstorms.’”
Bad gags aside, the story was given extra credibility when Bryan Cook wrote on his Twitter account: “…enjoying the afterglow of a career highlight: three weeks of recording Radiohead with Nigel Godrich!”
Gorillaz continue their slow and deliberate viral reveal of their new album Plastic Beach with a new trailer set to an orchestral soundtrack that tours the “plastic beach” on the albums cover. Its all very intriguing and it leaves me quite curious to see what’s in store for the band both musically and visually. Be sure to check out Murdoc’s Pirate Radio for more sonic tidbits from the album… Here’s the trailer:

Broken Social Scene’s rabidly anticipated new album may not have a title yet, but it’s finally got a release date: May 4, 2010.
It’s been almost five years since their self-titled third album and in the intervening years many members of the Toronto collective have gone on to great success with solo efforts and assorted outside projects while Broken Social Scene’s breakthrough album ‘You Forgot It In People’ was remembered on many a decade-end list.
But over the past few months, the sprawling group has been gathering in the Chicago studios of Tortoise’s John McEntire.
Band leaders Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning brought together the current core line-up — Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, Andrew Whiteman, Sam Goldberg and Lisa Lobsinger — with the group’s illustrious alumni, including Feist, Stars’ Amy Millan and Evan Cranley, Metric’s Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw, Jason Collett and others.
There are some newcomers in the liner notes this time, too.
Not surprisingly, McEntire joins in along with the Sea and Cake’s Sam Prekop, Pavement’s Spiral Stairs, ex-Death From Above 1979 member Sebastian Grainger, Poi Dog Pondering’s Susan Bells, Helen Money’s Alison Chesley and the Weakerthans’ Jason Tait.

Liam’s band is essentially Oasis, minus Noel. But… Noel basically WAS Oasis. So this should be interesting. Liam’s had a few semi-interesting tunes on Oasis albums over the years, but an entire album of his songs could be a disaster. On the other hand, perhaps he’s blossomed into a respectable songwriter, or has enlisted more help from his talented band-mates (Gem Archer and Andy Bell were both in quality bands before Oasis).
All to say, I’m pretty curious to see how this plays out. The Gallaghers are never boring and Noel’s reaction should be fun. Read more below from Chartattack.ca and check out one of Liam’s better tunes:
Liam Gallagher says his first post-Oasis album with his new band will be released this July, since they’ve already written eight songs for it.
The band includes former Oasis multi-instrumentalists Andy Bell and “Gem” Archer.
Gallagher told Britain’s XFM radio station the band should head into the studio with a producer in April to record three songs, and if it goes well they’ll cut an entire album. He also said he was disappointed Oasis didn’t release more material.
“Seven albums for Oasis is not good, I don’t think,” he said. “We’ve been going 18 years, 16 years or whatever and all we’ve done is seven albums. [Former Stone Roses frontman] Ian Brown’s on his seventh solo album. I just think it’s poor, really.
“I’m not going to beat myself up about it, I think we should have made better, bigger albums. Or more albums. Having like four or five years off is just no good. Obviously Noel [Gallagher] wanted a bit of time off and we don’t. The band split in August — we was in the studio in November ‘cos we’re mad for it.”
Gallagher’s post-Oasis project still doesn’t have a name.
Oasis imploded last August when Gallagher and his brother, singer/guitarist and main songwriter Noel Gallagher, had an argument backstage before a show in Paris, France, that saw Noel Gallagher quit the band.
Noel Gallagher has repeatedly said he wants to release a solo album.
