American singer Etta James passed away from leukemia complications this morning, January 20th, 2012.
James’s manager Lupe De Leon confirmed the news that she died at Riverside Community Hospital with her family by her side.
A year ago, James was diagnosed with chronic leukemia, though records show that she also had dementia and kidney failure.
She had been living under the care of a doctor for some time now.
Etta James was most well-known for the song “At Last.” Her music incorporated blues, rock and roll, R&B, gospel, soul and jazz.
