Yet another festival that takes advantage of Montreal’s short but fun-filled summer is the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival. A two-day mélange of indie/hipster goodness and enough mainstream acts to attract the masses, the festival boasts the relaxed atmosphere you might expect.
Osheaga was launched in 2006, and has quickly become a mainstay of the over-populated Montreal summer festival scene. Perhaps the highlight of the festival’s history was 2009’s show by Coldplay as part of their Viva La Vida tour. However, not to be outdone, this year’s lineup is just as strong. With local heroes Arcade Fire closing out the Saturday show, and LA alt rockers Weezer doing the honors on Sunday, 2010 is proving to stand up quite nicely to the hype.
Other acts you’ll see this year include: Sonic Youth, Metric, K’naan, Pavement, Snoop Dog, The National, Deadmau5, Devo, The Cat Empire, Keane, The Black Keys, Stars, and many, many more. For more info, check out their website.
WatchMojo is lucky enough to be attending Osheaga this weekend. Wait and see the great interviews we’ve got in store for you! Here are a few we did at last year’s festivities:
