Alex Chilton died yesterday of a suspected heart attack at the age of 59. He was singer/guitarist for the influential and under-appreciated 1970’s band Big Star. His music inspired a new generation of musicians including everyone from The Replacements to Superdrag to Wilco to Weezer. Thanks for the music, here’s my favorite Big Star tune:
