Announcing the reunion of a classic grunge-era band via Twitter? Chris Cornell, you so crazy! The reunion seems legit, but no actual tour dates have been announced and not sure what they’ll do about Matt Cameron who now has a full time drumming gig with Pearl Jam?

The Seattle grunge band Soundgarden has announced a reunion and possible tour dates this year, Billboard reported. The lead singer, Chris Cornell, second from left above, Tweeted the news on Friday morning, writing: “The 12 year break is over and school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!” and posted a link to a new Web site, soundgardenworld.com. The group — which also includes the guitarist Kim Thayil, second from right; the bassist Ben Shepherd, right; and the drummer Matt Cameron, left — helped to usher in the grunge scene in the late ’80s and rose to prominence with its 1994 album, “Superunknown,” which included radio favorites like “Black Hole Sun.” The group has not played together since breaking up in 1997, but Billboard sources say Soundgarden has already been offered spots at several festivals in the United States and abroad. Tour dates are also in the works, but must be planned around Mr. Cameron’s commitments to his current band, Pearl Jam, which is touring in the spring and summer.

In 2007 Jack and Meg hit the road for an extensive cross Canada tour that included every province and territory in the country. Thankfully they documented the entire thing with a film crew and will be releasing it as the documentary entitled The White Stripes Under The Great White Northern Lights.
