NEW YORK, NY) Due to overwhelming demand from fans, the digital release of “Boom Boom Pow,” the new single from three-time Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum Interscope recording artists The Black Eyed Peas, has been moved up to Monday, March 30th, when it will become available through all digital accounts.
Fans have been clamoring to purchase the track ever since it impacted CHR/Top 40 Radio two weeks ago. “Boom Boom Pow” is currently No. 17 and the fastest moving song at the format (No. 1 Spin and Audience Gainer). It is the group’s eleventh CHR/Top 40 hit, tying them with the Backstreet Boys for most chart hits in this format by a group this decade. “Boom Boom Pow” is also a hit at Rhythm Crossover Radio where it has climbed to No. 13 and is the No. 1 Spin and Audience Gainer. A video for “Boom Boom Pow” — directed by Motion Theory (who lensed Weezer’s Grammy Award-winning clip for “Pork and Beans”) — will be released in early April. The song was written by The Black Eyed Peas, which is will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie, and produced by will.i.am.
“Boom Boom Pow” is the first single from The Black Eyed Peas’ upcoming fifth studio album The E.N.D., which is due from Interscope Records on June 9th, 2009. The E.N.D. is the Peas’ first album of new material since 2005’s blockbuster Monkey Business, which sold more than nine million copies worldwide and spawned the Grammy Award-winning singles “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and “My Humps.”
The Black Eyed Peas will perform at the Ultra Music Festival at this year’s Winter Music Conference on Friday, March 27th. For more information, please visit the band’s official website: www.blackeyedpeas.com.
Hollywood hair metal dreamers Steel Panther have launched an all out attack on the pop mainstream with their newest video “Death to All But Metal”. Asserting their alpha male dominance with plenty of hairspray, spandex, and sick stage moves, Steel Panther have taken shots against anyone NOT flying the hair metal flag. Kanye West, Madonna, and 50-Cent are among the superstars targeted by lead singer Michael Starr’s wrath in the clip.
“Death to All But Metal” is an homage to Van Halen’s classic “Hot For Teacher” video and also features a cameo by smart mouth comedienne Sarah Silverman as the school principal.
Steel Panther’s new album, Feel The Steel, hits stores on 6/9. Check out Steel Panther’s new video for “Death To All But Metal” below:

The album features performances by 3 Doors Down, Al Green, Patty Griffin, Heather Headley, Jon Bon Jovi, Jonny Lang, Queen Latifah, Joss Stone with Buick Audra and many more (see below for full track listing). For the project, these world-renowned musicians collaborated with Gospel artists and several of today’s top Gospel Choirs to record renditions of some of the most loved and recognizable inspirational songs. It’s been said you don’t just hear gospel music you feel it. It’s woven through the fabric of the American spirit and history and its influence can be felt and heard around the world today and in the background of many of today’s most talented artists and musicians.
The album’s concept resulted from a close partnership between EMI Gospel and Vector Recordings and was produced by Ken Levitan, Bill Hearn, Jack Rovner, Ken Pennell, Drew & Shannon, Johnny K, Sanchez Harley, Obie O’Brien, Keith Thomas, Tommy Sims, Cedric Thompson, Simon Climie, Michael McDonald, Joss Stone and Buick Audra. Of the project, Bill Hearn, CEO of EMI Christian Music Group comments, “We wanted to create an album that honored the legacy of gospel music—it’s the backbone of the American spirit—but also create unique artist pairings that fans could find no where else.” Vector’s Ken Levitan adds, “Gospel music has always been not only spiritually and musically uplifting but also a great American art form. With this project we’ve taken artists who have been successful in other genres and combined them with this great art form to create new powerful music.”
While recording the record at Ocean Way Studio in Nashville, Jonny Lang notes, “(Gospel music) is really all I’ve been listening to for the last few years…it’s my favorite form of music…at least for now…” Lang goes on to say, “it’s such an honor to record with the legendary Fisk Jubilee Singers, their very first take on the song just blew me away. They’re such pros…quite an honor…” Additionally, Heather Headley comments, “It’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to revisit a classic song like “People Get Ready,” record it with a great producer like Keith Thomas, and sing alongside a legend such as Rev. Al Green. It really was a pleasure, and I had a great time doing it.”

Chilean born songstress Claudia Acuña has delved deep into her soul and brought forth her most personal and creative album to date with En Este Momento (At This Moment) on Marsalis Music. This inspired 10 song collection, produced by acclaimed saxophonist and label head Branford Marsalis, showcases Acuña’s unparalleled talent for fusing maximum emotion into both Spanish and English lyrics while mastering the “essential elements of jazz with startling effectiveness” (The Los Angeles Times). Her new CD and Marsalis Music debut will be in stores April 7th with concert dates in selected cities across the U.S.
A New York City resident since 1995 who remains committed to her Chilean heritage, Acuña has fashioned En Este Momento with lyrics in both English and Spanish. Her versatility, and her command of both jazz and Latin rhythms, set Acuña apart from other vocalists of jazz’s new generation. “I’ve always dreamed of being a singer, and when I discovered jazz and the greatest jazz singers I could not believe the freedom they could find in every song,” Acuña explains. “I love jazz’s tradition, but I always promised myself that my music would pay tribute to who I am, which is why all of my albums contain at least one song from South America.”
En Este Momento shows Claudia Acuña collaborating with a stellar line-up of musicians who have formed a strong bond over the past decade, including Jason Lindner (piano), Juancho Herrera (guitar/mandolin), Omer Avital (bass), and Clarence Penn (drums, cajon, percussion). Additional guests Edgardo “Yayo” Serko (cajon, bombo leguero, palmas) and Branford Marsalis (soprano saxophone) contribute extra spice to the mix. To pay homage to her roots, Claudia chose several Spanish-language classics such as the hauntingly beautiful “La Mentira,” written by Alvaro Carrillo Alarcon, and three songs by Victor Jara, who has been called the Bob Dylan of Chile. She effortlessly glides through her own interpretation of the upbeat “Sueño Contigo” by Uruguayan singer and percussionist Ruben Rada, and shows her growing confidence as lyricist and co-composer of two songs “Tulum” and “That’s What They Say.” “I always promised myself that I would honor my background,” she says, “and I’ve gone from the point where there were always one or two songs in Spanish to where there are always one or two in English. But I don’t want to lock myself into a formula because my growth has been organic, like a seed that produces more leaves, branches and flowers with each year.”
Putting her own stamp on the worldwide jazz scene with her assured, sensuous alto, Claudia Acuña inspires passion and a sense of heritage on En Este Momento. Don’t miss a chance to hear this powerful disc, and to see this amazing vocalist in a city near you.
