Reel Big Fish’s cover of “Take On Me” might be one of the greatest covers of all time. Which is what makes this new cover album, Fame, Fortune and Fornication so interesting.
The OC’S original skanking pranksters, Reel Big Fish have just released their new album, a 10 song serving of high-energy cover songs which they’ve dubbed, Fame, Fortune and Fornication. It includes the band’s signature ska take on such classics as Poison’s “Talk Dirty To Me”, Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”, John Mellencamp’s “Authority Song” and The Eagles’ “The Long Run.” For good measure, Reel Big Fish pay tribute to their early ska/reggae forefather’s with versions of Desmond Dekker’s “Keep A Cool Head” and Toots and The Maytals “Monkey Man.”
Here they are playing their version of Poison’s “Nothin’ But A Good Time”

You Make It Real - James Morrison
Soulful UK singer/guitarist James Morrison will kick off a busy year of U.S. touring, festival dates, and TV appearances with a series of January shows with four-time Grammy nominee Adele. Morrison, the best-selling male solo artist in the UK in 2006, has earned high praise for his live performances: The Times of London hailed his “genuinely moving… eyebrow-raisingly funky” show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire recently.
Says Morrison: “I love touring. I mean, it’s tiring and it’s a grueling thing, going on the road. It’s just not a reality of any kind. But playing-wise, as soon as I set on the stage, it just feels natural, and that’s why I do what I do.”
Morrison will work in several headlining dates of his own during his tour with Adele, including shows in San Diego (Belly Up), NYC (Highline Ballroom), Boston (Paradise Rock Club), and Washington DC (9:30 Club). Pure-voiced songstress Erin McCarley will open on Morrison’s NYC, Boston, and DC dates.
His single “Nothing Ever Hurt Like You” is currently #11 on the AAA chart, with “You Make It Real” confirmed as the next single for early 2009. Morrison’s sophomore album ‘Songs for You, Truths for Me’ was released in September to critical acclaim. SoulTracks named it one of their top CDs of 2008, writing “Songs shows Morrison to be a true soul singer — never mind the pejorative “blue-eyed” prefix — and a top notch songwriter.”
