“At the same time that Hendrix was making “Electric Ladyland” and the Rolling Stones were making “Their Satanic Majesties Request” the Jamaican scene of artists and producers being led by Trojan Records was making material that was just as complex, and even more advanced. For me, early dub and instrumental music out of Jamaica showed how non European, and non-industrialized countries could use technology in completely unexpected ways. For the 40th Anniversary of Trojan Records, I went through their archives and looked for songs that I thought reflected the diverse styles of Trojan, and its long relationship to underground culture worldwide. One could argue that dub is the most influential style of music in the world, and Trojan’s archives have some of the best material around. Period. It was hard to get everything - there was so much in their archive, that the only way I could bring myself to face the overload was to work with bits and pieces, and that’s what “Creation Rebel” is about - taking hold of music history to show how creativity made Jamaica the loudest island in the world.” –/Paul Miller a/k/a DJ Spooky
What better way to honor the 40th Anniversary of the seminal Trojan Label than with a groundbreaking new release from DJ Spooky? Last year brought forth In Fine Style: DJ Spooky Presents, which quickly became the Must Have reggae collection for fans and critics alike. A pioneer whose style and substance is like no other, DJ Spooky returns with a new and equally revolutionary release.
The follow up to 2006’s highly acclaimed In Fine Style: DJ Spooky Presents 50,000 Volts of Trojan Records, the Creation Rebel: Trojan Remixed project is a mash-up of various sounds and styles from the rich and deep Trojan Records archives. On this collection, DJ Spooky links current music production with older techniques pioneered by Trojan catalog artists such as King Tubby and U-Roy. By exploring the art of remixing, sampling, turntablism - all of the elements that can be traced back to dub – Spooky has created a mini history of electronic music. Everybody says techno started in Detroit, and hip-hop came out of NY. Creation Rebel shows that maybe Jamaica got there first!
DJ Spooky’s reputation has been firmly established as a leading international DJ, writer, musician, multi-media artist and critical figure in mainstreaming the DJ-as-artist concept. He spent last year touring the world presenting D.W. Griffith’s 1915 controversial film The Birth of a Nation as an interactive video remix experience called “Rebirth of a Nation,” which has been hailed as “a new experience in the evolution of art cinema and activism.” Internationally known for over the past 10 years, his resume includes numerous albums, books, film scores and lectures as well as collaborations with countless artists including Yoko Ono, Slayer, Thurston Moore, Public Enemy, Lee Perry and more.
Press Quotes:
“DJ Spooky has been producing beat-heavy electronic music for more than a decade. From his early solo trip-hop efforts to his more recent collaborations with jazz giants, Spooky has always approached music from multiple angles at once. He has the chops of a musician, the genre-blending ear of a disc jockey and the conceptual vision of a performance artist. It was therefore no surprise when Trojan Records, a reggae label entering its 40th year, asked DJ Spooky to put together a mix showcasing tracks from its massive archives. When assembling In Fine Style, one of several mixes commissioned to mark the Trojan birthday, Miller found countless parallels between the Jamaican reggae scene of the 1960s and ’70s and the digital mashup ecosystem of today.” -Wired June 2007
“From the label’s archives, DJ Spooky selected mostly lesser-known tracks with rhythms so staticky and murky they’re almost vicious. He also likes wacky lyrics and the free-associating disc-jockey voice-overs that led to hip-hop. In Fine Style goes bouncing and squelching along, not as a reggae history but as a swaying, sustained daze.” -New York Times July 2006
“DJ Spooky has an intimate knowledge of how Jamaican music developed—the covers, the dubs, the versions—and he lays it all down for you to hear, with 36 tracks of the world’s greatest music for the mind and body. It is most excellent and most enlightening and roots, natty roots.” -GQ Magazine July 2006

Former front man of highly successful pop duo, Savage Garden, has been arrested after being suspected of racially abusing an employee at a Thai restaurant.
While Darren Hayes is cooperating with the police, his solicitor denies the incident, claiming, “Anyone who knows Darren will recognize that the particular nature of the allegation is totally abhorent to him and contrary to everything for which he has stood.”
“Former Savage Garden singer Darren Hayes has been arrested on suspicion of racially abusing a member of staff at a Thai restaurant, police have said.
The pop star, 35, handed himself in to police after an incident at the restaurant in Soho, London, on 22 July.
“He has been released on bail pending further inquiries,” a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said.
A statement from Hayes’ solicitor said the singer was “deeply upset” and “strenuously denies” the allegation.”

I like to compare Ween to an unknown superstar in a pro sports league. People who are aware of them love them and secretly hope that the masses won’t start wearing their jerseys and smothering them with adoration, but also are aware that they deserve a lot more recognition and respect. Maybe thats a bad analogy, but to me it makes sense. Ween are a kickass band and can adapt their playing to a specific genre like no other. A perfect example is this song, “Freedom of ‘76″ off of their 1994 release Chocolate and Cheese. Listening to this song with no prior knowledge of Ween you’d swear it was a 70’s soul band out of Philadelphia and not 2 white guys who write goofy songs called “Don’t shit where you eat”. Even better is this crazy video that they made, directed by Spike Jonze. Jonze somehow visaualized the two Ween boys as outlaws trying to liberate the people from god knows what and it makes for an unforgettable video. Liberty Bell thefts, Riot Squads, Mob crowds and Jailbreaks… this video has it all. Thank god for Ween:
Oh yeah! Any new Radiohead is always reason to stop what your doing and track it down immediately. Luckily the good people at Radiohead’s fan-made MySpace page made it easy for you and put it up there!
The song is called “Arpeggi” and the recording is from a live performance at the Ether Festival. Word is that their not releasing a new album in 2007, but keep your fingers crossed for something soon.
Check the song out HERE.

“Play It As It Lays” is the first album of new music from Patti Scialfa since the release of her critically acclaimed “23rd Street Lullaby” in 2004 and is the artist’s third solo album since the release of her debut, “Rumble Doll,” 1993.
“Play It As It Lays” premieres 10 new songs, written and performed by Patti Scialfa, showcasing the artist’s soulful command of melody and language in a series of expressive and intimate musical narratives incorporating elements of roots rock, folk, country, street corner doo-wop, girl groups and more into a sound and sensibility uniquely her own.
Tracks on “Play It As It Lays” include: “Looking For Elvis,” “Like Any Woman Would,” “Town Called Heartbreak,” Play Around,” “Rainy Day Man,” “The Word,” “Bad For You,” “Run, Run, Run,” “Play It As It Lays,” and “Black Ladder.”
The album is produced by Patti Scialfa, Steve Jordan (Patti’s co-producer on “23rd Street Lullaby,” Jordan served as musical director for the PBS series “Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues” and has produced albums by Keith Richards, John Mayer, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and others), and Ron Aniello (Lifehouse, Guster, Barenaked Ladies).
“Play It As It Lays” features Patti (vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo, Wurlitzer organ) backed by the ‘Whack Brothers’ Rhythm Section: Clifford Carter (keyboards), Steve Jordon… (drums and percussion, acoustic guitar), Nils Lofgren (guitars, pedal steel guitar, dobro), Bruce Springsteen (Hammond B3 organ, acoustic guitars, electric guitar, harmonica) and Willie Weeks (bass). Additional players on the album include co-producer Ron Aniello (guitar, keyboards), Crusher Bennet (percussion), Jeremy Chatzky (bass), Mark Stewart (cello, guitar, banjo), Scott Tibbs (synthesized strings), and Soozie Tyrell (violin, background vocals), with whom Patti gigged back in her early musical busking days. Other background vocals are provided by Lisa Lowell, Michelle Moore, Cindy Mizelle and Curtis King.
Each of Patti Scialfa’s previous solo albums - “Rumble Doll” (1993) and “23rd Street Lullaby” (2004) - received four-star reviews in Rolling Stone magazine who praised her “…clear-eyed joyfulness and unpretentious appeal…(evoking)…a woman not haunted by her past but enriched by it.”

BIO:
There’s something to be said for throwing down all the money you’ve won and laying all
your cards on the table, face up. It’s a gutsy move–one that takes a bit of courage, a bit
of crazy, a bit of worry and a staunch belief that the outcome will be well worth the risk.
Musically, Omaha, Nebraska’s The Good Life lives in a moment of that complexity. Led
by Cursive’s Tim Kasher (vocals, guitar), the band–featuring Stefanie Drootin (bass),
Roger Lewis (drums), and Ryan Fox (guitar, keys)–creates bold songs that are not afraid
of the mixed up emotions they describe, sometimes in vicious, heart-battering detail. The
characters that inhabit The Good Life songs live on the precipices of courageous, crazy,
worrisome and determined, throwing down the hand they’re playing in each relationship
they’re trying to save or hoping to begin. Every song on the band’s fourth and finest LP,
Help Wanted Nights, delivers those perspectives with sheer aplomb–sometimes a little
messy, sometimes a little blurred, but never ashamed of asking for what they need.
Recorded by A.J. Mogis in Omaha, NE, the songs on Help Wanted Nightswere written
to take place in the same small-town bar, and were initially meant as the soundtrack to a
screenplay that Kasher started writing in 2006 (he’s since completed it). Unlike Album of
the Year’s start-to-finish narratives, these songs seemed to describe moments of raw
emotion more than chronicle a linear tale. Keeping with this idea, when it came time to
prepare the tunes for the studio, The Good Life decided to keep the songs as close to
their original incarnations as possible, spending long practice sessions on arrangements
to record them as true to their form as they could. The resulting recordings, all set to
tape, show the compositions on Help Wanted Nights as more stripped down and thread-
bare than previous Good Life creations.
This isn’t to say that the songs on Help Wanted Nightsare not expansive; quite the con-
trary. Akin to stark lyricism of artists like Bruce Springsteen, each track digs into deep
emotional territory through its narrative and melodies. Some songs touch on a dark ver-
sion of Americana, as seen on the grand chords of “You Don’t Feel like Home to Me” and
the church organ hum of “Rest Your Head.” Others are softer like “So Let Go,” which
delivers its late-night laments via hushed vocals, moonlit, reverb-driven guitars and
washed out cymbals. “Heartbroke” dissects a break-up with a heavy dose of sarcasm,
while “Keely Aimee” is the best song Fleetwood Mac never wrote.
Achingly beautiful and sharply astute, Help Wanted Nights details human nature in the
most honest way possible, taking risks without regret.

- Rob GEE has also has spun at many Slipknot and Korn after parties with his good friend, DJ Starscream a.k.a. #0 of Slipknot.
Bio:
In the club’s early 90’s heyday, the versatile GEE kept delirious audiences going through spinning at Limelight’s “Future Shock” dance/techno nights and performing with his live band as well as spinning at the club’s “Rock And Roll Church” metal/rock/industrial nights. The crowds kept coming back to Limelight, just like they did in Australia, Japan, Italy, Spain, Scotland, Austria, Hungary and Belgium to name a few. GEE is a recurring headliner at Sensation, Thunderdome, Mysteryland, and Love Parade, where GEE played before one million people.
His diverse appeal keeps him performing weekly at all types of musical events and concerts. GEE has shared the stage with everyone from Hatebreed and Biohazard to Crystal Method, Busta Rhymes, Kurtis Blow, and Afrika Bambaataa. His GEEness has also has spun at many Slipknot and Korn after parties with his good friend, DJ Starscream a.k.a. #0 of Slipknot.
GEE’s history of DJing and live performances shows his dedication of bringing the fusion of organic and electronic music to a wide variety of listeners. GEE’s love of hip-hop, hardcore, techno, metal and every other genre set him apart from the rest. While other DJs make tracks and spin records, GEE is an Artist who writes original songs. His indecisiveness as to whether or not he wanted to breakdance and spin hip-hop or jump in the mosh pit and play in a metal band was one of the reasons he began to cultivate his own style of both. Rob GEE is the only artist of his kind to collaborate and create with members of respected rock, metal, hardcore and hip-hop acts such as Slipknot, Hatebreed, Biohazard, Wu-Tang Clan, Cypress Hill, and System Of A Down, (just to name a few), creating a unification of electronic, metal, hardcore, hip-hop, and any other style for that matter known as gabber music. GEE is writing history launching gabber onto the world scene.
“The Gabber Guru,” as GEE is known, gained worldwide fame after the release of “Ecstasy You Got What I Need”. The song went Gold and was the #1 video on The Box for 13 straight weeks. At the same time, “Ecstasy” rose to #9 on the pop charts and earned him Best Artist, Best Producer and Best Song of the year at The Thunder Awards in Holland.
Any artist with great songs needs to record, and GEE has put out over 50 releases in the past decade on various labels including ADAM (Aggressive Dance And Music) Worldwide, his self-owned label and primary showcase for his work. GEE recently finished work in the studio with his band on his follow-up to “Vitamin GEE,” which will be released in the fall on ADAM WorldWide/ Rock Ridge Music. The sound is 100% Rob GEE, which means eclectic, unexpected and completely unique. GEE’s band, who recorded the album with him and perform with him live, includes: GEE on lead vocals, Einstein (electronic percussion), Mike Puch (bass, vocals), Vin Man (guitar, vocals), T-Bert (drums), Nicky Twist (turntables, vocals).
In addition to his work on the small screen with Chris Scorsese, GEE is currently writing and producing “The League of Just Us” for television. GEE is also expanding his empire and bringing Sensation (The World’s Leading Dance Event) to the Western Hemisphere starting first with New York City.
Rob GEE won’t be stopped!!!!!!
