Sony has just debuted the first full theatrical trailer for their CGI-hybrid summer comedy The Smurfs, starring an all star cast. This includes Neil Patrick Harris, Glee star Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria as Gargamel. I love the comedy of Steve Carell, but I’m a bit worried about this film not delivering anything even close to par with the likes of “The Incredibles”, which it clearly playing on.

I’m also confused why a studio would pay the outrageous salary of someone like Carell, when he changes his accent and is hardly recognizable. It’s like having expensive actors voice Alvin and The Chipmunks, it makes no sense beyond marketing! continue reading...
