I recall five years, working in ad sales for an online magazine.  Obviously, sales was the furthest thing in our mind after the 9/11 attacks, but it was indeed a very strange phenomena to try to get back into work after September 11.

In a unprecedented move Disney has decided that they will begin offering hit TV shows like Lost and Desperate Housewives for free on the internet. The shows will become available the morning after they have aired on TV and users will be able to fast forward, rewind and pause, but there will also be commercial breaks that won’t be able to be skipped. Disney hopes to make this a profitable venture by generating new ad revenues. Apparently they’ve already got 10 major advertisers signed on, but I’m wondering if it wouldnt have been more profitable for them to continue selling the episodes at a couple bucks each… In any case, its just another sign that the end is near for prime time television.
