Designed for tight city driving, the Honda Personal-Neo Urban Transport, or P-NUT, vehicle is Honda’s conceptual answer to the Smart ForTwo. Seating three, with plenty of room for the driver, the interior is airy and meant to minimize the claustrophobia seen in other micro-cars. The rear-placed engine allows for excellent visibility up front. Though it’s unlikely we’ll ever see the P-NUT on the roads in its present incarnation, Honda will surely be putting these design elements and concepts to work in future production models. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com speaks with Dave Marek, director of advanced design for Honda U.S., to learn more about the pint-sized P-NUT.

Ford is now offering a course to teach teens how to react if the car should go out of control.

Driving Skills For Life,” is a free event sponsored by Ford in which instructors make tires screetch and cars go sideways as a method of instruction.

The tools, instructors, and tires can’t come cheap, but yet Ford offers the course for free!

“We need to take care of the people who buy our products,
” says Jim Graham, who heads Driving Skills For Life for Ford. “And considering the number one cause of death in teenagers is vehicle crashes, it’s a big concern of ours.”

Most of us probably already knew this information, but now there’s the science to back it up. According to a recent study women take an average of 20 seconds longer to park their car and they are still not likely to end up in the middle of the spot.

Dr Claudia Wolf from Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany, who led the study, said that the research confirmed previous findings that men have better co-ordination and spatial awareness than women, and take more risks behind the wheel.
“These prejudices exist and as a scientist I decided the find out if they are true or based on myth,” she told the Mail on Sunday.

Some noises are expected while you drive and others should cause concern! Here’s a list of car noises to never ignore from Yahoo!

Here are some of the more common noises that can spell trouble and their possible causes:

1) Any sound when turning a corner: More than likely this is related to the steering linkage. It either needs lubricating, or is damaged and requires replacement.

2) Clunking when braking: A brake caliper or other hardware is damaged, missing or improperly mounted.

3) Flapping: This could either be something interfering with the fan or a belt disintegrating.

4) Grinding manual transmission when shifting: This is probably a clutch issue. It is either worn or requires adjusting. It could also indicate a deeper problem within the transmission.

5) Hissing or sizzling under the hood: Heard when the engine is first shut off, something is leaking. Coolant or oil could be leaking onto a heated engine part, such as the exhaust manifold; a vacuum line could be leaking; or the engine could be overheating.

6) Knocking in engine compartment: It’s a myth that there are benefits from using a higher-octane gasoline in your vehicle than the owner’s manual specifies; however, using a lower-grade fuel can very well produce engine knock. Follow the owner’s manual requirements in all things oil, gasoline and tire air pressure.

7) Loud bang: If the sound is as if someone put a cherry bomb in your tailpipe, it’s a backfire. It could be the air-fuel mixture is too rich. It could also indicate that the catalytic converter isn’t functioning properly.

8) Low-pitch humming or whirring under car: This could have any number of causes. If it changes with acceleration, the differential may need lubricant, the transmission may be failing, the universal joints may be worn or a wheel bearing could be shot. The problem is, the sounds under a vehicle tend to reverberate and echo to the point that it’s impossible for a lay person to determine the source.

9) Popping in engine compartment: An array of issues could be responsible, particularly if the sound is accompanied by some engine hesitation. The checklist includes ignition problem, clogged fuel filter, worn or dirty spark plugs, damaged spark plug wires or a compromised catalytic converter.

10) Rattles from beneath the vehicle: It could be a loose exhaust system or even loose brake pads.

11) Roaring that increases with acceleration: The first thing to check is the exhaust system; it could be damaged. Transmission issues could be another cause. In an automatic, perhaps it’s not advancing to the next gear. With a manual transmission, the clutch could be slipping.

12) Squealing or chirping on acceleration: This usually indicates a belt or belts are loose and slipping. It could also mean the drive pulley for an accessory such as the water pump has become misaligned.

13) Squealing wheels when applying brakes: This could have a number of causes from something as simple as dirt on the brake rotors, pads or shoes to something more ominous, such as badly worn pads or shoes. It could also be from a wear-indicator on a pad signaling that it is time for new brake pads. No matter the cause, it’s a safety issue and requires attention.

14) Scraping or grinding when applying brakes: If the squealing has turned into scraping, that usually indicates bare metal rubbing against bare metal. The brake pads are shot! Every application of the brake pedal is damaging at least one of the rotors.

15) Tapping or clicking in engine compartment: The most obvious problem — and easiest to remedy — is that the engine is low on oil. Check the oil level. If that is OK, the problem could be a loss of oil pressure somewhere in the system. It could also indicate some blockage due to crud in the system. If it’s not an oil issue, more than likely it’s related to the valve train. The valves may need adjusting or perhaps the lifters are collapsed.

16) Whining: This can often indicate excessive differential or transmission wear.

According to Jalopnik:

Sarah Henderson, daughter of Fritz Henderson, the just-resigned-minutes-ago GM CEO, posted some choice words about Ed Whitacre, the random white guy taking her dad’s place at the top of the just-emerged-from-bankruptcy automaker, on the automaker’s public Facebook page!

Now don’t get us wrong — we feel for Sarah, but when you pop them up in public in a place like GM’s public page, well, all bets are off. Plus, comments like Ed Whitacre being “selfish” help us to understand the new interim CEO just a little bit more. Here’s the full text:

“HE FUCKING GOT ASKED TO STEP DOWN ALL OF YOU FUCKING IDIOTS. IM FRITZ’S FUCKING DAUGHTER, AND HE DID NOT FUCKING RESIGN. WHITACRE IS A SELFISH PIECE OF SHIFT, WHO CARES ABOUT HIMSELF AND NOT THE FUCKING COMPANY. HAVE FUN WITH GM, I HOPE TO NEVER BUY FROM THIS GOD FORESAKEN COMPANY EVERY AGAIN. FUCK ALL OF YOU.”

But, it’s not like we can blame the kid — we’d be pretty pissed at Ed Whitacre too if he were selfish and wanting to run Government Motors all by himself. (Hat tip to highmileage!)

According to MSN Autos

The rite of passage that most men undergo upon transitioning to their 40s is often accompanied by some rather telling symptoms: mood swings, career changes, irrational behaviour and often the purchase of exorbitant and impractical cars. We are not condemning these cars, as there are some very fine cars on this list. No, we are condemning the combover (or toupée-wearing) males who simply cannot age with dignity and buy a sedan, SUV or a minivan like anyone else in their right mind would at that age.

Here’s the list of cars you may want to avoid when you hit 40.
