Mercedes-Benz unveiled that they will be releasing a fully electric SLS, the AMG E-Cell EV Supercar — wow.
They say it will rival and beat the current world-leader EV, the Tesla Roadster. Thems fighting words Mercedes-Benz. After pictures leaked on the internet and speculation rose about the possibility of an all-electric vehicle from MB’s ranks, they finally released the statistics on the supercar, and they are quite staggering.
Power to the e-cell batter in the AMG will be provided by four electric motors. All the motors and battery are stored in the rear of the vehicle, and the system will push out 525 horespower and nearly 650 lb-ft of torque, powering the AMG E-Cell from 0-60 in an impressive 4 seconds.
I’ll say it again: wow.
Changes were made to the car’s exterior and interior design to accommodate the electric engine and because the car is AWD. However, it still looks very much like the SLS AMG we all fell in love with a few short months ago.
Finally, car companies are waking up to the possibility of creating electric vehicles with oomph.
