Nasdaq’s All Time Chart - Peaking in March 2010

Tech Crunch was nice enough to feature one of the 8 videos in our 2000s Decade Rewind series.  In the post, co-editor Erick Schonfeld mentions:

“The video strangely alternates between the fraud and financial crises of the general business world (Enron, the housing bubble, Bernie Madoff) and all the change and innovation of the tech world (Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, the iPhone). It’s as though it is talking about two different worlds or two different eras. If the next decade is going to be anything like the last one, I’ll stay in the tech world.”

It is very ironic that the 2000s started off with technology stocks imploding and the Nasdaq’s fall leading to a crash.  But by the end of the decade, technology is back with a vengeance and with a greater role than ever in society and business, and by 2010, it was financial companies’ shenanigans that caused the latest crash.

You have to wonder: technology will get stronger over the next decade but most never reached their pre-bubble-crash peaks, but will financial stocks ever get back to their glory days?  Probably not.
