I was browsing the latest issue of The Economist… and apparently, year to date, [of the markets they list], only one stock market index is in the black: Venezuela, at +3.1%.
All other stock markets [that they listed] are down year to date:
- China: -45%
- US: -13%
- Japan: -11%
- Britain: -15%
- Canada: -2%
- France: -21%
- Germany: -19%
- Russia: -13%
- India: -26%
- Australia: -20%
- Hong Kong: -18%
- Brazil: -9%
- Argentina: -8%
- Saudi Arabia: -18%
Regions:
- Europe: -21%
- World Developed (MSCI): -13%
- Emerging Markets: -15%
- World All (MSCI): -13%
Wow. Well… actually, I got out of the stock market in March, selling Yahoo! and Sina… at the time my last two holdings. Both are down 25% since I got out. Probably just a coincidence, I’m sure.
