So we updated Friday’s edition at 5:30pm EST, that’s not even a respectable time to update the site by PST’s standard.
Oh well. Not sure what happened but yesterday at about 1pm EST something blew up. Our hosting company said everything looked good, my IT guys said everything looked good, but trust me, it didn’t look good and it wasn’t pretty.
1. I cannot wait until we launch on our new redesign and new CMS.
2. I cannot wait to address the new video player and CDN situation.
3. Life is too important to let anything work related bother you. I was surprised at how little seeing the site being down/slow upset me. Trust me, it’s not something you want to see, but you also take the good with the bad.
Case in point: yesterday morning I got an email I got last month, telling me that we had surpassed out monthly quota and would be charged extra. Last month I got that email on the 29th, this month I got it on the 25th. Anyway, not sure if the servers’ snafu had anything to do with that, I doubt it, but the point is startups are great and horrible at once, so you have to see the forest through the trees and enjoy every second.
4. That being said, you really do not know what you got until it’s gone down. I have been so focused on building the network of sites that I only seem to pause and realize what we have built when I have no choice. Sometimes when you are building something it’s good to smell the coffee…
