Collin McLoughlin

New York City’s Collin McLoughlin seems to be taking an interesting approach to stardom in this post major label world we live in. Collin has release a majority of his material for low low cost of free. While they seem to be scattered across the web our favorite track is “Someday” that was tracked down here. The blogosphere is roaring about the guy and it looks like he’s set to blow. So don’t say I didn’t warn you when you can’t get a ticket for his show.

For Collin McLoughlin, making music has always been a way to channel his inquisitive nature, to reflect on situations his friends and family are dealing with, and above all else to share these emotions and moments in his life with the people around him.
Now, at 22, Collin is able to share his reflections with a much larger audience. Work on his first solo project began in May, 2010 and after a few months of recording, he took a break to tour with Sam Adams. Their first show together was at the House of Blues in Boston with audience of 2,500. Recently, Collin has linked up with Kinetics and One Love (writers of “Airplanes” for B.o.B.) on stage and collaborated with them in the studio. Performing live is as natural to Collin as breathing, so being on stage in nothing new. His previous band, Nautical Young, opened for K’naan, Wale, Lupe Fiasco, Fabolous, Brother Ali and Hypercrush during the Spring, 2010 and he’s being doing solo acoustic shows since his teens. His loyal college fan base continues to book Collin for headlining shows. Collin’s soulful voice and true to life lyrics resonate with a broad audience. ”Come Back to You” chronicles first love and the lingering questions surrounding its loss. “Back To the Wall” is a story of being at a crossroads and passing up the safe, smooth path to follow your passion and embark on a rough and sometimes unforgiving journey, in Collin’s case, pursuing a musical career. Every song he writes is grounded in a real situations and he is constantly inspired by his life’s journey and its relation to those around him.
These universal themes revealed through credible story lines and melodic hooks are layered over toe-tapping, electro-pop rhythms. Collin’s positive, upbeat energy is infectious and resonates through his music, live performances, and his life in total.
Collin is currently recording his solo debut at the famed Downtown Studios in Manhattan with Grammy-winning engineer Jason Goldstein who has worked with Beyonce, Jay Z, Kanye West, and Michael Jackson. The album is coming together like chapters of an electrifying memoir that has been waiting to be released. The first few singles released online have received exceptional feedback from the press. “Singing my original material on stage at the House of Blues for 2500 people was beyond exhilarating! The amazing reception my music received, fans rushing over to meet me, get autographs and take photos, when none of these people had heard any of music before, completely validated my hard work and dedication, and reinforced my intuition that music is and has always been the driving force in my life.” Collin McLoughlin continue reading...

Singer-songwriter Tony Lucca released his sixth studio album, “Rendezvous With The Angels,” on July 13, 2010, on Rock Ridge Music (through Warner Music Group’s Alternative Distribution Alliance). “Rendezvous With The Angels” finds Lucca crafting his most thoughtful, tuneful, and mature work yet. The album includes appearances by Lucca’s 2009 tour mate Sara Bareilles (who duets on “Back to Me”) and Lady Antebellum guitarist Jason “Slim” Gambill (featured on the bonus track “Nobody But You”). Most of the record was recorded in the fall of 2009 by Ron Probst — who also served as executive producer of the album with his wife Linda — at Mitch Easter’s Winston-Salem, North Carolina, studio, the Fidelitorium. Four tracks – “Long Love Letter,” “Make You Mine,” “Love Light,” and “Anchored” – were cut by producer Todd Beauchamp at his Vienna Circle Studios in Los Angeles.

“We are so proud of Tony’s continued growth as a songwriter and performer,” says Rock Ridge Music President Jason Spiewak. “The new record is a great listen from start to finish, yet each song is well crafted as a stand-alone piece of work, which will play well in our new ‘shuffle’ based music culture.” continue reading...

Ink Dry Blue cover

Eartha, double Grammy nominee and winner is scheduled to release her latest studio album, “Ink Dry Blue” on September 21, 2010 via AFRT Music. Eartha is an eclectic alternative artist, musician, and songwriter, whose debut CD “This I Know” captured the attention of DJ’s across the country and proved to be a hit among music enthusiasts. The project’s maxi-single “Love Jones” garnered spot #2 among Billboard’s Top Five Hot Dance Breakouts in 2001. Having created such a buzz, Eartha set the stage for the success that would follow her sophomore CD “Sidebars”, which consisted of 15 tracks of soul-inspirational music. Eartha fashions a distinctly new strain of music that converges the sounds of alternative, rock, and soul. Like “This I Know”, her follow-up release “Sidebars” was a mixture of rhythmic musical patterns that transcend the generic sounds that have come to be known in popular music. This release, for which she garnered two Grammy nominations and a win was written, arranged and produced by Eartha with mixes by Chris Puram. Her vocal/chording arrangements are captivating and engaging.

In the mold of rare self-contained artists, Eartha writes, arranges, and plays saxophone, keyboards, drums, bass, and electric guitar. Suited with overflowing creativity, dexterity, rich influences, a striking image, and intense energy, Eartha’s presentation and ability to tell a story with music is unparalleled. As an independent artist, her talent continues to create much buzz. She has been deemed Top 100 Soul artists on IMEEM (acquired by MySpace), LALA (acquired by iTunes), and AOL. She has also been ranked among top 10 artists most searched on Allmusic.com. Eartha’s vocal/chording and arrangements are captivating and engaging. Given Eartha’s previous achievements and ability to tell a story with music, the success of her upcoming CD “Ink Dry Blue” is highly anticipated. continue reading...

Franklin & Vermont Cover

LA-based singer-songwriter Ernie Halter released his latest album, “Franklin & Vermont,” on June 29, 2010, on Rock Ridge Music. Featuring 11 tracks – nine originals and two covers – the album was recorded with engineers Spenser Bishop and Carson Liccardi at MixOne Sound in Mission Viejo, CA. In addition to playing most of the instruments on the record, this is also Halter’s first self-produced album. Halter says, “Many people love the early recordings for their laid back, raw, acoustic vibe, and I wanted ‘Franklin & Vermont’ to be a studio record with the same soul. It’s easy to lose something in translation, easy to lose the magic of a live performance when it comes to making a record. But for the first time, I feel like I really got it.”

“Ernie Halter shows an impressive level of maturity as a singer and a songwriter on this collection of recordings,” says Rock Ridge Music President Jason Spiewak. “His new material is thoughtful, emotionally impactful, and it’s been beautifully recorded” continue reading...
